Natural Remedies: Essential Oils for Stress Relief
December is here, and that means that we are in the thick of the holiday season. If you celebrate during this time of year, that means traveling or entertaining, and even if you don’t get into the holiday celebration thing, it probably still means extra stress at work as your office tries to work ahead and finish up year-end business.
Whatever the reason, December can be incredibly stressful, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed. I saw a great graphic the other day that said, “When you absolutely cannot take a break is exactly when you should take one.” I think this rings so true during the holidays! If you’re getting ready to rip your own hair out, try taking a few quiet minutes for some soothing aromatherapy instead!
Essential Oils for Stress
- ylang ylang
- blue lotus oil – this oil is very expensive, but a little goes a long way. I wouldn’t put blue lotus oil in the tub, but a few minutes of deep breathing with this on your pulse points does wonders!
- clary sage
You can choose one oil or create your own blend, mixing up a couple of your favorites.
How to Use Your Essential Oils
Remove yourself from whatever situation is stressing you out. That could mean finding a quiet place to sit or heading out for a walk around the blog. Before you go, though, dab 2-3 drops of stress-busting essential oils on your inner wrists, and breathe them in deeply as you sit or walk. You can also escape to the bathtub and put about 10-15 drops of essential oil right in the water along with some epsom salts to melt the stress away!
