It is H-O-T out there, and if you’re like me maybe you’re wishing for one more pair of shorts to round out the ol’ summer wardrobe for this last sweaty month.

Making cut offs might seem like a no-brainer, but if you’ve ever chopped off your old jeans into shorts, you probably had a few unexpected issues. Maybe they were too short or too long. Maybe they were uneven or shorter in the front somehow than in the back.

Whatever went wrong, don’t fret! This video shows you how to create the perfect pair of cutoffs every time. All you need are an old pair of jeans from the thrift store or your closet, a sharp pair of scissors, a ruler or tape measure, and a pen or pencil to mark your fabric. Check it:
