3 DIY Face Masks Good Enough To Eat

It seems like no matter what type of skin condition you have there is a natural solution given to us by Mother Nature herself, that sassy vixen. I’m not sure if it is just me, but I love just about any type of DIY facial mask that I can also nibble on while putting it together.
Here are my favorite face masks that not only help cure some common skin conditions but also contain some seriously yummy-and effective-natural ingredients.
Let the taste testing…errr…DIY’ing begin!
1. Banish That Blemish: DIY Acne Cream
Argh, acne! It can be such a pain in my…face? Well, you know what I mean. And while there are some great organic skincare lines out there, I find this handy little face mask does the trick, tastes awesome, and is much cheaper than buying organic acne treatments off the shelves.
1. Grab yourself some fresh, organic strawberries (not frozen), wash them, eat some, and then chop the rest up until you have 1/4 cup.
2. Add 1/4 cup of plain organic yogurt to your strawberries and mash them together until you have created a paste. Maybe taste it. For science.
3. Spread evenly onto your face and let the mixture sit for up to 15 minutes before rinsing your face off with warm water.
This mask is amazing for acne because strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid, which can be found in many over-the-counter acne treatments. Only this way you are keeping it green and staying away from any additional ingredients that may be added to those products.
2. DIY Anti-Aging Mask
Not one woman I know likes her age to show on her face. I mean, it just doesn’t look the greatest. Especially when your face looks older than you actually are.
To fight aging and turn back the clock try mixing up:
- 1 avocado, mashed
- 1 carrot, cooked and mashed
- 1/2 heavy cream
- 1 organic egg, beaten
- 3 tablespoons of organic honey
Mix and mash up all your ingredients in a bowl until smooth, evenly apply it to your face, and let the mixture sit for up to 15 minutes before rinsing your face off with cool water.
This mixture helps to defy age thanks to the moisturizing vitamins found in avocados, the beta-carotene and antioxidants found in carrots, and the protein found in the cream. Not only will it leave your face feeling amazing, but it will help to promote collagen production, improve your skin tone and texture, as well as help to fade any age spots you might have.
Oh yeah, and it doesn’t taste too bad either!
3. Homemade Moisturizing Mask
Ohhhh chiiild this one just may be my favorite out of all the masks, and it’s not just because I eat at least half of it before actually getting it on my face. It’s because of how it makes my skin feel after washing it off.
If you are like me and suffer from dry skin, especially during the drier months, then this mask is just screamin’ your name.
1. Mash together half an avocado, half a banana, a teaspoon of organic honey.
2. Spread it on your face evenly and let it sit for up to 20 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Not only will the avocado help infuse your skin with loads of minerals, as well as vitamin E and B, but it is also loaded with moisturizing healthy fats that will give your skin a supple, youthful glow. Add onto that the anti-inflammatory and humectant properties of honey and you have yourself a tasty little moisturizing mask that will help to lock moisture into your skin, keeping it hydrated, soft, and protected against drier weather.
