Trim Tummy Tricks to Get You Bikini Ready

Never is your midriff more on show than during summer months.  You can cover and conceal it all winter long, but once summer is here you want to show more abs than flab.

Now,

Never is your midriff more on show than during summer months.  You can cover and conceal it all winter long, but once summer is here you want to show more abs than flab.

Now, a good self tanner (nontoxic, of course!) goes a long way toward making your tummy more presentable, but if you are looking to trim and tone, read on.

Ab-focused workouts are important for developing strong core muscles which improve balance, sports performance and, of course, appearance.  But did you know that diet comes into play big time when trying to banish the bulge?

Yep, cutting out refined sugars and unhealthy fats (we are talking those starchy desserts, chips and fries here) will trim your mid in no time.  Take a look at this article from Fitness Magazine on The 10 Best Foods for Flat Abs.  Basically, you are looking for lean protein, fruits and veg for flatter abs.

Sounds easy enough, right?  For those with a real penchant for sweets this new eating plan may not be so easy.  Trust me, I am one.  Here’s a little tip for taming your sweet tooth:  keep  sugar-free gum and mints on hand for those times of day when you most want something sweet, like right after lunch or dinner.  Substituting dried dates or figs for sugary desserts satisfies your craving without loading you up on unhealthy starch and even adds a little extra fiber.

Do you love your bread?  Most of us do!  Here is my trick:  save your bread for the end of the day.  Try to steer clear of this starch during the day and have a piece for dinner.  You can even think of it as your dessert.  There, now you can have your bread and not feel like you are over doing it.

For many women abs are the most difficult part of the body to keep toned.  Following these eating tips and adding a good ab workout will keep you bikini-ready year round.
