Buying Nothing New Resolution: Underwear

DIY underwear

One of my Feelgood Resolutions is to buy nothing new and to source all of my clothes and accessories second hand. For most of your clothing and accessory items, this challenge is pretty easy. Even the smallest thrift store can have great treasures that are your size and style if you’re willing to dig a little.

When I first decided to buy nothing new, I didn’t really think about underwear. Realistically, if you wash something in hot water it will sanitize it. The ick factor in buying underwear at a thrift store is purely mental. I have yet to cross over the mental bridge and buy underwear from a thrift store, but nothing new also means making! This video tutorial from Threadbanger shows how to create really cute underwear out of a shirt.

I love the idea that you can create underwear from any patterned shirt that’s made from any fabric that you choose. The possibilities are truly endless and you’re guaranteed to have undergarments that are your style and perfect fit!

Have you ever made your underwear? How do you feel about buying underwear second hand? I would love to hear your opinions about the buying nothing new challenge and your take on second hand undergarments. Feel free to leave any comments, links, or questions!
