Beauty Myth: Extreme Photoshop Makeover

This video, created by a photographer and desgner, shows the crazy amount of Photoshopping that fashion photography uses to create those “ideal” images.

What strikes me most about this video is that this woman looked beautiful before the artist applied a single filter or healing brush:

These are the lengths that marketers go to to sell us products we don’t need. We can see how silly it is when we’re looking at something like the Unilever underarm campaign, but it’s more insidious when we’re talking about digitally altering photos to sell fashion and beauty products.
