Make Bronzer from…Hot Chocolate?

Dutch process and natural cocoa

Conventional bronzers are full of mystery ingredients and even “fragrance” that can include carcinogens and other toxins. Next time your cheeks need a boost, give this hot cocoa mix bronzer a go!

We’ve talked about chocolate in beauty products before, from body scrubs to hair care, but what about brushing chocolate right onto your face? Michelle Phan shows us how to use ordinary hot cocoa mix in place of bronzer!

There are a few things I’d do to make this a bit more socially conscious. First off, definitely opt for a fair trade, organic hot cocoa mix. The chocolate industry has notoriously questionable labor practices, and you don’t want a dash of child labor in your new bronzer! I’d also make sure to use a makeup brush that’s not made from animal products. Some makeup brushes use animal hair, and just like other industries that rely on animal products, you can’t be sure about the conditions those creatures lived in before you bought your makeup brush.

Have you guys made any beauty supplies out of food products lately? Tell us about it in the comments!
