Green Celebs Support Japan

Gwen Stefani

The March 11 earthquake and subsequent tsunami has left Japan ravaged.  The world has rallied to help the nation begin to mend itself.  Green celebs have been part of this world aid.

Christie’s International charity, along with many Hollywood stars, is working to give a helping hand to the Japanese people impacted by the disaster.  The Green Auction House hosted by Christie’s International has received donations from the likes of Kim Kardashian, Jimmy Kimmel, Lady Gaga, and Justin Bieber.  Guitars, concert tickets, art work and jewelry are some of the items being offered at the auction with proceeds going toward Japan.

Katy Perry is supporting Red Cross Relief by selling glow sticks on her California Dreams tour across the UK.  The funds from the sale of the glow sticks will help earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan.

Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda has designed t-shirts benefiting Music for Relief’s support efforts.  And Blink-182 is auctioning band memorabilia, including their handwritten lyric sheets and clothing they’ve worn in a music video, with sales going to Red Cross.

Fan to Japanese culture, Queen-of-Cool Gwen Stefani, has donated $1 million to Save the Children, Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund.  Gwen has also set up a charity auction where fans can bid on the chance to go as her guest to a Los Angeles fundraiser.  And…she has designed a limited edition Harajuku Lovers t-shirt, available through NoDoubt.com.  100% of the shirt’s proceeds will go to relief efforts in Japan.  Gotta love Gwen!

You may be wondering what you can do to help the people of Japan.  Mother Nature Network’s list of organizations and charities doing their part to aid Japan is a great place to start.  To see if a charity is truly green, check out Roxy’s Smart Donations checklist.
