Natural is the New Hair Trend

Elle Magazine

Guess what?  Straight and silky hair is out.  Natural, lived-in is in.

At least that is what Elle magazine is proclaiming.

Airy volume and matte finish are what’s in for tresses this spring.  Good news for those of us with natural texture, who have had to smooth and straighten our wild and wooly strands for the past several seasons.

We are not talking frizzed-out hippie hair here, but “lived-in texture”, as described by ELLE Magazine.  Think second-day hair somewhere between straight and wavy.  The true beauty of this style is its ease.  It requires minimal product (not to mention minutes) to achieve.  Simply apply a texturizing lotion or cream and blow dry while scrunching between fingers.  Wear down, gathered at the nape of the neck in a loose pony tail, or pulled up into an uneven bun.

To get this un-polished look your stands need texture.  Dry shampoo is great at getting rid of the greasies and creating a matte finish.  Organic Hair Powder by Lulu Organics does the job and is made with all natural ingredients.  If you are starting with clean hair try Hamadi Shea Hair Cream for instant second-day texture.  Spritz John Masters Organics Sea Mist Sea Salt Spray through strands and blow dry or, if you have natural waves (and the extra time), allow to air dry.

This casual, sexy look is perfect for the season…and your schedule.  So, put away your flatiron and go natural.
