Dr. Natura Colonix Cleanse, Getting Started

You have heard about cleanses — concoctions desinged to cleanse your colon of toxic buildup, resulting in more energy and better health.  Celebrities do them.  Demi and Ashton even tweeted about their experience with the Master Cleanse this summer.

There are different types and I have tried one before…well, sort of.   It was a feeble attempt, stopped short due to a rather bad experience.  It was a quick cleanse (designed to take up only a few hours of your time) and the necessary items could be found easily in your kitchen cupboard.  The ease and efficiency suited me, so I set about taking on the challenge one Sunday night.

In this particular cleanse you were to drink a shot glass of olive oil and a shot glass of lemon juice alternately every 15 minutes.  I no longer remember how many shots total, but feel it was around 7 each, though I could be wrong.  The exact number really didn’t matter because I only made it through one shot each.  After the first two shots I was sweaty, light-headed, and nauseous.  Let’s just say, “Cleanse over”.

That was a couple of years ago and I have honestly had no desire to pursue cleansing again.  That is until I was contacted a month or so ago by the folks at Dr. Natura.  You may have heard of Dr. Natura as they are likely the leader in herbal cleansers.  They wanted to send their product for my review.  This would, of course, mean I would have to try the product and, unlike a facial cream or new eye shadow, it is a bit more long term.  I was skeptical for sure, and did relish the thought of reliving my prior cleansing experience.  And because the cleanse is at least a month-long endeavor (rather than a day or even a weekend) none of my family or friends really wanted to take on the challenge for me.  So…..

After speaking with Diane at Dr. Natura, who assured me that the Colonix program rarely causes light-headedness or upset stomach, I decided to give it a go.
