Welcome back to The Emerald Awards! I’m your host, Terri Bly, presenting you with the top truly natural beauty products as voted on by our panel of green beauty experts. Today’s category: Best Natural Foundation.

Foundation. Just the word speaks volumes. Before we enhance our skin’s natural glow with bronzer or brighten it up with some blush, most of us choose to even out our skin tone with a base, be it liquid, cream, or powder. Unless your foundation looks good, and by that I mean whatever you choose to do or not do to your skin, everything else you put on it won’t look great, either. When it comes to natural and organic formulas, there are numerous high-performing and long-lasting options to choose from. For that reason, I divided the category of Best Natural Foundation into three subcategories: Liquid/Cream, Tinted Moisturizer, and Loose/Pressed.

And the Emerald Award for Best Natural Liquid Foundation goes to:

Nvey Eco Organic Moisturizing Liquid Foundation, $45

This rich, moisturizing formula provides excellent coverage and leaves a dewy finish. Perfect for dry skin, Nvey Eco’s groundbreaking foundation is a favorite among makeup artists and widely available both online and at Macy’s Beautiful Planet shops.

Honorable mentions: Living Nature, Jane Iredale Liquid Minerals

The award for Best Tinted Moisturizer goes to:

Jane Iredale Dream Tint with SPF, $36

This lightweight formula with just a hint of color is perfect for summer. With SPF15, Dream Tint is perfect on its own or as a primer for your pressed or loose mineral foundation.

Honorable mentions: Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer, Dr. Hauschka Tinted Moisturizer

The award for Best Loose Mineral Foundation goes to:

Alima Satin Matte Mineral Foundation, $20
Although there are over one thousand lines – and counting – of mineral foundation on the market today, only a handful are crafted using the purest of ingredients. And only one is certified by the BDIH. Alima Pure has managed to win the hearts of our panelists with its insurpassable coverage, a lovely matte finish, sun protection, and natural healing properties. At $20, it’s also one of the most affordable, proving you can in fact find style AND performance AND affordability in one cute little package.

Honorable mentions: Afterglow

Next up: Best Natural Lipstick and Lipgloss
