Organic Treatment Oil: The Secret to Red Carpet Hair

For years, I’ve wondered why, no matter what top conditioner or “best of” shine enhancer I used, my thick, wavy hair never had the vibrant, supernatural glow I saw on the women walking the red carpet. Turns out, the plastic, silicon and reflective particles I believed held the key to gorgeous hair were part of the problem. By sealing off my hair from nutrients, I was effectively suffocating it. After embarking on my journey down the natural & organic path, I stumbled upon organic treatment oils. Just like that, I discovered the secret to healthy-looking celebrity hair: Truly healthy hair. Go figure.

So chuck that bottle of serum you got at the salon last week and try this instead. If you have healthy hair and simply want an extra boost of shine, comb one of the treatment oils below through dry hair and leave on for about 5 minutes. Rinse with warm (not hot) water and shampoo, following with a small amount of conditioner at the ends if you so desire. If your hair is more on the damaged-and-breaking-off-in-pieces end of the spectrum, you can leave it on as long as you like (consider wrapping it in a towel and keeping it in at night while you sleep). Again, shampoo it out after you’re done, perhaps use a smidge of conditioner at the roots, rinse, and violà – gorgeous, soft hair with the kind of shine you thought required a $200 trip to a Beverly Hills salon.

Below are a few of the best treatment oils I have found. They are 100% natural, silicon-free, and made with all (or mostly) organic oils.

Intelligent Nutrients USDA Organic Hair & Scalp Treatment Oil, $45 for 1.3oz.

John Masters USDA Organic Dry Hair Nourishment & Defrizzer, $16 for .5oz

Rare El’ements, El’Treatment, $44 for 1oz.
