Do You Like it Raw? Purely Delicious Magazine Offers Easy Raw Food Advice

I first found the world of raw food when researching eco-foods for The Everything Green Wedding Book. Before then I wasn’t aware there was much more to raw than juices, veggie and fruit trays and salads. Boy was I wrong. There’s a whole world out there of food that is raw. At most it is slightly steamed or heated and preferably never frozen. This keeps the nutrients intact making the food vital and healthy.

Several of the books I read made raw food sound so complicated but the Winter 2009 edition of Purely Delicious  offers easy and delicious ways to try raw.

In addition to articles like A Beginner’s Guide to Juicing, Battling Cravings, basic yoga tips and moves, Make at Home Spa Treatments you’ll find Raw 101- a great beginners guide to crossing over to the raw side. And if you want more info about going raw you can visit www.PureJeevan.com/blog and download the free e-book Raw Foods 101.

My favorite parts of Purely Delicious were the recipes. Let me tell you, raw has never sounded so easy or delicious. Rosemary Olive Bread, Pomegranate and Cream Cupcakes, Vanilla Butter, and Black Cherry Sorbet. OMG! These foods look and sound so yummy I might have to take a walk on the raw side.

I am not a raw foodie, I am not even a vegan or vegetarian. I know, I know you are probably thinking my eco-cred has just been decimated. Sorry. Food is personal, food is sensual, food is…delicious and I love food…all kinds of food. I do my eco-thing in many, many, many other ways plus I believe everyone has the right to eat the food they like. It’s just like religion…you’re free to do your thing just don’t try to convert me.

I will tell you that in the past couple years I have become more eco-responsible and health conscious with my food choices. I love my veggies and I eat them everyday. I can go days without meat and my family often has meatless meals. So we are responsible without going all the way.

I also love to experiment with food so I don’t mind trying a few of these raw selections.

I am glad a magazine like Purely Delicious has come out that showcases the wonderful options that eating raw has to offer without being preachy and overzealous about it.

  1. I recently discovered Purely Delicious too. And am I so glad I did. It is gorgeous, well-written and great for people who are new to raw like me.

I didn’t realize how earth friendly the raw diet is.
Thanks for posting this. It’s going to be huge as more people catch on to how great food can make you feel.

  2. I’m so glad you mentioned this. I love Purely Delicious magazine, and I’ve been into raw foods for over 3 years now. I’m even working on a site to help people who want to go raw, but are having a hard time doing so.

I think it’s all about taking it one step at a time. Adding more raw foods, and reducing meats is a great way to improve your health and make a positive impact on your eco-footprint. :)
