I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Thailand 16 years ago and brought a few of these mats back home. They do not break down! I have used them on a side outdoor porch, we roll it up and take it camping in the bottom of our tent, it's used in place of a picnic blanket, etc. They are beautiful and so durable

i lovw that this mat is made from something that would otherwise end up in landfills. I also love the idea that it can be easily cleaned and therefore owned for longer. This is an amazing innovation!

Wow, such a pretty mat. Fair trade is really nice too. I hate to keep riding on the backs of third world labor for my comfortable lifestyle. And soda bottle as the recycled material ... so interesting. How do they do that?

http://twitter.com/shadowsarah
tweeted about the contest.

It is such a beautiful mat, people will not believe that it is sustainable and using products that people throw out all the time. And it is fair trade. I just got back from Power Shift 09, the largest youth summit on climate change, so any product that recycles and has fair trade practices involved is brilliant in my book.
