Kelly Lane: Clothing with Color…and a Conscience

Lately I’ve been spending way too much time at Eco-tique in St. Paul, MN. It’s a problem, because I can’t seem to leave this eco-friendly clothing and accessories shop without purchasing something way outside of my price range. Which right now includes anything more than about $7. Before the holidays, I decided I needed a new dress for the…um…one Christmas party I was planning to attend. What happened next was the acquisition of this funky, awesome, one-of-a-kind dress from Kelly Lane:

I’d love to say I was bold enough to wear the red socks and black mary janes with it, but instead I wore grey tights and black boots. I still looked pretty fabulous, if I do say so myself.

Kelly Lane is part of the rapidly growing eco-fashion movement, using fabrics and practices that have minimal impact on the environment. Lane and other local artisans hand-make each dress, which is obvious when you’re up close and personal with her line. I just realized Lucille posted about Kelly Lane a couple of days ago!! Total coincidence, and how strange. Well, consider this to be a personal review of Lane’s handiwork, then.

I love Kelly’s unique use of color and fabric as well! And who doesn’t love that most of her fabrics are all natural and use low-impact dyes. To see her new masterpieces in the spring collection, like the “Ivy Dress” in Pomegranate and Blueberry, see http://www.juteandjackfruit.com/Kelly_Lane_s/3.htm.
