I had actually forgotten the part where he got rid of his imported clothes because of the colonial oppression that they where imposing in a figurative and literal way.  His movement to favor homespun clothing was a radical departure from the industry of the day.  India was exporting raw fiber and the clothing industries in the UK had all the manufacturing employment.  

Clothing choices can exact societal change.  These pants aren&#039;t going to make a huge difference, but that doesn&#039;t mean they aren&#039;t a good idea.</description>
