Eco-Friendly Interior Design: Sustainable Furniture For Your Modern Home

A modern take on a Victorian classic, the Cleo sofa is just one in a collection of completely sustainable and modern furniture.  Greener Lifestyles, based in Seattle, WA doesn’t believe you have to sacrifice your health, the environment or good design for well-made, long lasting pieces for your home.  Priding themselves on impeccible craftsmenship and attention to detail with 100% sustainability their goal, they’re always searching for the best non-toxic materials.

Responsibly harvested FSC-certified wood is used for the frame, while sustainably harvested rubber tree sap is turned into their biodegradable and mold, mite and mildew-resisting latex cushions.  Anti-microbial and naturally fire-retardant organic wool is used with organic cotton for all cushion batting.

Unlike standard furniture adhesives, Greener Lifestyles uses water-based versions that don’t omit VOCs.  Customize to your own tastes by selecting from organic wool, hemp or recycled polyester in a variety of colors.

  1. Environmentally-friendly furniture has a such a bad rep–don’t you agree? It’s like people assume that as soon as a chair is labeled green, it’s going to be out of date and ugly. I just got a beautiful office chair from office designs and its recyclable and GREENGUARD certified. I love it.

  2. Hi Jackie,

I do agree! It’s always great to find furnishings that are both eco-friendly & cool. Do you have a link to your new chair? I’d love to take a look :)

  3. Hi S!

Here’s the webpage of the chair I got! Its called a Mirra and I got it in the “Blue Fog” color. I saw it in “Citron”, though, and surprisingly, its really pretty!

Take a look around the website–there’s some really nice chairs that are GREENGAURD and LEED certified. A lot of the Herman Miller and Steelcase chairs are actually!
    Thank you~ :)

  4. These are pretty nice. My friend used this company in Santa Monica called Designers Call which custom made some awesome furniture pieces for her that were all refurbished old pieces or custom made new ones from recycled materials. They turned out really well-they looked very high end even though they were pretty affordable. I love that more companies are doing this.
